Town Hall Rally - Monday March 25, 2013
Join us for a Rally at Town Hall on Monday March 25th at 4:30pm!
Please join us in a march at Town Hall this coming Monday and next. We must continue to get our point across to Council. We need more people out each week to demonstrate our strong resolve. We will have a speaker talk about what we need Council to do to acheive greater transparency and what we the residents can do.
Collingwood residents have a right to know the truth about what is behind the OPP investigations. It is critical that we keep requesting tighter policies and a more transparent local government.
What do we need Council to do?
Safeguard Policies to ensure full disclosure and to prevent any such reoccurances including:
- a conflict of interest policy that includes stepping away and not voting on any issues that a person close to them may gain from, a lobbyist registry with full disclosure as to who lobbied them
- that all public work be tendered: No exceptions.
- meaningful public engagement on issues, including polls, surveys, public meetings, focus groups, blogsites before council discusses issues and gives staff direction
What can we do?
- Write to council and tell them what we need (as above)
- Like us on Facebook and visit us at Bettertogethercollingwood.com
- Research practices in transparent governance and we will post your findings and suggestions
- Attend the marches and bring everyone you know that cares with you!
- We will be distributing a community survey and hosting a public meeting in the future - please participate
